Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions about modular buildings? Find answers on assembly, groundworks, energy efficiency, longevity, and the benefits of LGS Modular.

How is a modular home assembled?

A factory-manufactured modulars begin as segments that are built in a controlled workshop floor environment. The completed modulars are transported to site and craned into position.

This is something we ask the client to organise and manage. We are more than happy to advise on foundation type and positions for services entry etc and willing to co operate with your preferred contractor on this part of the project.

LGS Modular buildings can take a fraction of the time to build, and will help you save a lot of money in the overall construction process e.g. less labour, no weather delays, and reduced travel to site means a faster, cheaper build and equal if not better to the quality of an onsite build.

LGS Modular light gauge steel buildings are designed to be energy-efficient and environmentally friendly. Steel is a highly durable and sustainable building material, with a long lifespan and high resistance to fire, pests, and weather conditions. Additionally, steel is fully recyclable, reducing waste and promoting sustainability.

When designing a light gauge steel home for energy efficiency, we incorporate a range of features to reduce energy consumption and promote sustainability. For example, the use of external insulation to the outside, an airtightness membrane and another layer of insulation between the steel framing to prevent heat loss during the winter and reduce cooling requirements in the summer. Double-glazed windows are also installed to reduce heat transfer and improve energy efficiency. Our roofs and floors are also fully insulated to meet Part L in current building regulations.

Overall, LGS modular builds are a great option for those who prioritize energy efficiency and sustainability in their project, by incorporating energy-efficient design features, light gauge steel homes can provide a lifetime of comfortable and sustainable living, while also reducing long-term energy costs.

LGS Modular Light gauge steel modular buildings can last a long time with proper maintenance and care.

Some manufacturers claim that their buildings can last up to 100 years or more. However, the lifespan of a light gauge steel building can be affected by factors such as corrosion, weathering, and exposure to environmental factors such as salt, moisture, and extreme temperatures.

To ensure the longevity of a light gauge steel building, it is important to follow the manufacturer’s maintenance guidelines and ensure, proper maintenance to avoid corrosion, leaks, and other problems that can reduce the lifespan of the building.
